We are delighted to have three-time Olympic medallist Mahé Drysdale confirm his attendance for the 2021 Billy Webb Challenge!
Entrants from all Clubs, Schools and RPCs are welcome to enter and take on the rowing great – a fantastic opportunity to get up close !
We have been very fortunate to host crowd favourite, double Olympic Gold Medalist, Bronze Medalist and five-time World Champion Mahé Drysdale at nearly every Billy Webb Challenge since it started in 2008.
After a break due to injury, Mahé will be racing in the 2021 Billy Webb Challenge.
“After a disruptive 2020 I am looking forward to my first regatta since February last year,” says Drysdale. “The Billy Webb Challenge is a regatta close to my heart and after missing the event for the first time last year through injury, I am glad to be back and have it as the kickstart to the 2021 season, which will hopefully end in racing the postponed 2020 Olympics in July 2021. Looking forward to bring the family for another visit to Whanganui”
Mahé is an avid supporter of the race and rowing development in provincial centres.
Rowing NZ Representatives
Each year we have been delighted to have Rowing NZ Representatives race here in Whanganui for the Billy Webb Challenge.
Due to scheduled commitments we will unfortunately not be hosting Rowing NZ Representatives in the 2021 BWC.
We will be watching Toyko 2021 Summer Olympic Games with eager anticipation and greatly look forward to welcoming our champions back to participate in the 2022 BWC.
